My name is Michael Arndt, and I am currently a student teacher at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School, working under the guidance of Mike Slifko and Maggie Smith. With a passion for history and a belief that knowledge empowers, I am excited to embark on this journey with my students. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in History from Augustana College and am actively pursuing a Master’s degree in Humanities Education from Grand Canyon University. My academic pursuits have fueled my love for history and have prepared me to share this passion with my students.
My teaching journey began with nearly a year and a half of substitute teaching in District 230, where I gained valuable insights into different teaching styles and classroom dynamics. Now, as a student teacher, I am thrilled to be teaching U.S. History at the junior level, including a class with English Language Learners. I believe that knowledge is not just a tool but a form of empowerment. In my classroom, I strive to provide each student with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in the world. My goal is to create an environment where students feel empowered, and their individuality is celebrated. I am committed to fostering a learning space where students feel they have the power to express themselves and pursue their unique paths, both in and outside the classroom.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy engaging in games like Dungeons & Dragons, chess, and other related games. I also have a keen interest in working with computers and electronics. Of course, my love for history continues to be a personal pursuit, and I’m always eager to learn more about historical events and figures. I am deeply committed to creating a world that is better for individuals with disabilities and English Language Learners. In my classroom, I strive to create an inclusive and accessible learning environment where every student feels seen, heard, and supported.
